Releasing a book

Wow it’s almost March and I’ve only written one article this year. This is for good reason. Over the past little while, I have taken the time to write a book. I noticed that there is a lack of books related explicitly to succeeding in the software engineering space. There are plenty of books on how to learn a language or build a deployment pipeline, even books on how to manage developers. There are few that describe what it means to be a software engineer. How to succeed in the field, and most importantly how to make the most out of your career, in the direction you wish to take. Success in the field isn’t about making the most money, it’s about enjoying the road you travel. Taking the path that best suits you.

I set out to create a resource that guides any software engineer, at any stage to reach their full potential. A resource that answers questions I had, or that others asked me over the years. Furthermore, it teaches you how to make the most of your career. Whether that be to make the most money or create the most freedom, my hope is that at the very least you take away something that helps you move in the direction of your choosing.

This book should prepare you for your entire career. It gives you the preparation and lays out the paths you can take. By the end of the book, you will have a firm idea of the various avenues you can take. As well as providing helpful information on how to truly stand out in your career. I also discuss the activities I perform regularly that make the biggest impact in my career. You don’t have to be new in the field, anyone, at any level can take something from this book.

The book is in the end stages of the release process, however, it is likely to be a few months away. I look forward to releasing it, and I hope that people get some value from it. Titled “Achieving your potential: A guide for software engineers”. I can’t wait for this to be out in the wild and I hope that it helps many people.

Over the next few weeks, I will be picking back up the article creation. If there is anything I should write about, please let me know and I will work my way down the list of topics.
