Mac OS & Apple in general
For the longest time I have hated all Apple products, mainly because for cheaper you can build a much better system and you don’t have to pay that Apple tax. For many years this has served to be quite true, sure the Iphone was quite new and cool, but it was still expensive. I have owned two smartphones, Samsung galaxy S4 international edition and the OnePlus 3. The samsung had to be the worst bit of hardware and software that I have ever owned, as after a year it was the slowest phone in existence no matter what I tried it was always slow. I even tried to put a custom rom onto it but with no luck as samsung like to lock it down quite a bit and no matter what guide I followed it wouldn’t work. Next the OnePlus 3, this phone has been amazing, I can’t complain but after the recent purchase of the new Macbook Pro 15 inch with touchbar I must say I am really coming round to the Apple way of doing things. I have built my own desktop PC and have owned 3 previous Windows laptops and used linux on all of them, but after many laptop issues i finally bit the bullet and bought a Mac to rid me of all my laptop issues. This has to have been the greatest decision I have ever made as this machine is perfection, 10 hours of battery life gets you through all days. I believe that mac os and the macbooks have finally become great enough to justify their enormous price tag. I have recently been given the Iphone 8 plus for work and I must say it is one amazing bit of tech. I can easily last 2 days of heavy use, most of the apps are significantly better than the android counterparts and the best part is that I actually get updates to my device. To my surprise I actually quite like the Mac/Iphone integration allowing me to answer calls, texts all from my laptop. This has become extremely convenient for me if I'm waiting on an important call it comes right up on my laptop when I’m working. I haven’t had any complaints when it come to either of the devices. MacOs being a Unix like system coupled with brew gives me a lot of the functionality of a linux system. I did however have to add magnet to do window management properly as MacOs can’t do that to save it’s life. I honestly would highly recommend the combo of Mac and Iphone, especially if your a developer, I mean you should go linux but for the people who still need some apps, or things that aren’t available on Linux, MacOs is a fantastic option. If your sick of the fragmented ecosystem that is Android I would highly recommend that you give this generation of Iphones a shot(not the x), they really have become an amazing device and they might even be worth the extremely high price tag.
